December 27 - 28, 1987 – Vida, Chuck, Christie, Ronnie, Brandie (the dog) and I visited. Vida wrote, "Here we are in 'Palm Desert'...can look to the right and see Bob Hope's home. (Note from me: I think the heat got to Vida, but wait it was December, hum.) Chris swept out the cabin. They tell me there were rats in here, but I don’t believe them. We are in the motor home. I froze last night. We are having a great time. Mainly cause Dad (Chuck) cooked breakfast and washed dishes!! A first!"
Christie wrote, "Personally I would rather be in “Las Vegas”. I think camping “stinks”. I need my hair washed and a bath, the dog is a pain and there’s nothing for us to do. I feel so sorry for me. Ron makes me come out here and he won’t even entertain me. I don’t get it! Does anyone know if they have Bingo at the Marine Base? I love good looking “young men”! Oh well looks like we’re stuck! Wow, Mom just had a great idea. Ronnie can stay with Brandie at the cabin while we go to Vegas. Ronnie didn’t seem to mind. We’ll go ask Dad."
(Note from me: And to think Ronnie became a Marine and was stationed at the 29 Palms Marine Base.)

Me a Marine at 29 Palms. Let me just say what was more weird! The Library in 29 Palms used to be a Jail (huh Dad)!
I never saw any books in it when I was there.
